John Legend Talks His Friendship with Kanye West, Says They're in 'Different Places' Now

John Legend is addressing the current status of his friendship with Kanye West.

During a new interview, the 41-year-old “All of Me” singer revealed that he and the 42-year-old “Closed on Sunday” rapper have gone their separate ways.

John and Kanye used to be close friends and music collaborators, but the two went through a bit of a rough patch after Kanye started showing a lot of support for Donald Trump, who John has very vocally admitted he can’t stand.

“;I don”;t think we”;re less friends because of the Trump thing. I just think we”;re doing our own thing,”; John shared with The Times. “;He”;s up in Wyoming. I”;m here in LA. We”;ve both got growing families and I no longer have a formal business relationship with him as an artist, so I think it”;s just part of the natural cycle of life.”;

John also mentioned when they are together, he and Kanye don’t talk about politics.

“;But what I”;ve always said is, we never talked about politics before,” John said. “It was never a part of our interaction. Our interaction was almost always about creativity and music.”;

John continued: “;He”;s also in a different place musically. He”;s doing gospel music. That”;s what he”;s focused on right now, designing his clothes, so we”;re in different places.”
